Magic Trackpad

Features

Custom UDP protocol — minimal overhead

Clicks that feel real

Accelerometer spikes and touch area expansion are combined to detect press-down intent. The Taptic Engine responds with a precise, satisfying "click" — recreating the feel of a physical trackpad.

Native macOS gestures

Two-finger scroll, three-finger Mission Control swipe, and more — all recognized natively by macOS. No configuration needed, just start swiping.

Privacy-first architecture

Once paired, every packet between your iPhone and Mac is encrypted with Noise_KK (ChaCha20-Poly1305) — the same crypto family used by WireGuard. All traffic stays on your local network. No accounts, no cloud, no telemetry. Your input data never leaves your desk.

All-day battery

Pure black UI optimized for OLED displays minimizes power draw. Efficient networking keeps battery impact negligible — even during long coding sessions.

How it Works

Set up in 30 seconds

No dongles, no drivers, no configuration files. Just two apps on the same Wi-Fi.

01

Install both apps

Download the Swipad receiver on your Mac and the Swipad app on your iPhone. Both are lightweight with no external dependencies.

02

One-tap pairing

Swipad auto-discovers your Mac via Bonjour. Tap to pair — an encrypted connection is established instantly. Pairing keys are stored securely in your Keychain.

03

Swipe, click, scroll

Place your iPhone between your split keyboard halves — or anywhere on your desk. Your finger becomes your cursor. Click by pressing down. It just works.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does my iPhone connect to my Mac?
Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Swipad uses Bonjour (mDNS) for automatic device discovery — your Mac appears instantly in the app. After a one-tap pairing, all subsequent connections happen automatically. A custom UDP protocol ensures minimal latency for cursor movement, while TCP handles control commands.
Where should I place my iPhone for the best experience?
Anywhere you'd put a trackpad: between split keyboard halves, right next to your laptop, or on a stand by your desk. Swipad tracks a single primary touch point, so simply place the iPhone with the screen facing up and use it like a regular trackpad surface.
How much battery does Swipad use on my iPhone?
Very little. The trackpad UI uses pure black (#000000) optimized for OLED displays, so lit pixels are minimal. The networking layer is lightweight UDP — far less power-hungry than Bluetooth peripherals. You can use Swipad all day without a noticeable hit to battery life.
Is my data secure?
Once paired, all traffic between your iPhone and Mac is encrypted with Noise_KK (ChaCha20-Poly1305) — the same crypto family used by WireGuard VPN. Communication never leaves your local network. We collect zero data — no analytics, no telemetry, no accounts. Pairing keys are stored in the system Keychain on both devices.
What are the system requirements?
iPhone: iOS 16.0 or later. Mac: macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. Both devices on the same Wi-Fi network, or connected with a Lightning/USB-C cable. The Mac app requires Accessibility permissions to control the cursor.
What if the Wi-Fi is congested or unreliable?
Plug in your iPhone with a Lightning or USB-C cable and Swipad will use the wired link instead. It's a quiet fallback for crowded networks — cafés, conferences, planes — where Wi-Fi can get unreliable.

Your desk setup deserves better.

Install in seconds. Your iPhone becomes the trackpad you didn't know you needed. Free during early access — no account, no card.
